Dr. Parviz Azar-Mehr is a prosthodontist with over 20 years experience in practicing and teaching prosthodontics. Currently, he is Professor of Clinical Dentistry in the Department of Post-Doctoral Education, Advanced Prosthodontics, of the School of Dentistry at the University of Southern California ("USC"). His advanced training and clinical experience make him exceptionally qualified for not just tooth replacement, but also general dentistry, restorative dentistry and cosmetic dentistry.

Cosmetic Dentistry

If you are not born with beautiful teeth, you have a choice to change your smile. With the miracle of modern cosmetic dentistry we can create the beautiful smile of your dreams. This is what cosmetic dentistry can do for you:

  • With Cosmetic dentistry, we can change the color of your teeth.
  • With Cosmetic dentistry, we can straighten your crocked teeth.
  • With Cosmetic dentistry, we can close the gap between your teeth.
  • With Cosmetic dentistry, we can change the shape of your teeth.

In short, with cosmetic dentistry, we can give Los Angeles dental patients a beautiful smile, enhance their self image and help them enjoy looking at the mirror.

With cosmetic computer imaging, you can see the result of the proposed cosmetic procedure on the computer screen before committing yourself to the treatment, and you can have your input in the design of your smile.

Prosthodontics

Prosthodontics embraces the repair and replacement of broken, missing, diseased or malformed teeth. Your smile leaves a lasting impression on people you meet and interact with. Diseased, ravaged, or missing teeth can affect how others see you as well as how you see yourself. Healthy-looking, white, straight teeth not only look more attractive, but bolster your self-confidence as well.

Unhealthy or missing teeth aren't just a cosmetic problem. A missing tooth that is not replaced can change the shape of your face, promote decay and disease, and eventually require other teeth—teeth previously supported by the missing tooth—to be pulled.

Prosthodontists are dental specialists who have completed two years of post-graduate study and passed exams for board-certification. Prosthodontists combine medical knowledge with artistry to create natural-looking restorations. They offer sophisticated treatment to patients with missing or damaged teeth, congenital defects, and trauma- or neglect-induced oral problems. Moreover, thanks to their special training and interaction with researchers and clinical experts, prosthodontists have wider diagnostic insights.

Porcelain Veneers

There are many reasons why your smile might not be dazzling. You may have gaps between your teeth, or crooked teeth that have not been corrected by braces. You may have ineradicably stained teeth. Los Angeles prosthodontist, Dr. Azar-Mehr, can employ porcelain facings (also known as veneers) to remedy these flaws and give you a bright smile that you will be happy to share with the rest of the world.

Porcelain facings are thin, custom-made porcelain veneers that are adhered to the front of your teeth. They also strengthen your teeth. When they straighten teeth or close gaps between teeth, they can prevent future cavities.

Porcelain facings are less invasive than caps or crowns. Very little tooth enable is removed in when porcelain facings are adhered to a tooth, so the tooth keeps its overall integrity. If you have healthy teeth but seek to beautify your smile, consider porcelain veneers seriously.

Porcelain facings can hide stains that cannot be eliminated by whitening solutions, including stains on teeth produced by antibiotics in childhood. The antibiotic tetracycline permanently stains teeth unevenly. Bleaching solutions bleach teeth evenly and can therefore give someone with tetracycline-stained teeth a brighter smile, but they can't remove uneven discoloration. In contrast, porcelain facings cover teeth entirely and give them a uniformly bright look.

If you are an adult and braces are not an option, porcelain facings can be used to create evenly spaced teeth, removing gaps; fix crooked teeth; and correct tooth size and overall appearance.
